چکیده
Background: No large scale analysis of transposable element (TE) protein structures exists. Results: We predicted and analyzed hundreds of proteins from a representative set of DNA and LINE transposable elements. Conclusion: We provide new insights on TE evolution, structure, and frequency of sequence exchange events between TEs and their hosts. Significance: The first large scale analysis of TE protein structures.

Structure prediction and analysis of DNA transposon and LINE retrotransposon proteins.
Despite the considerable amount of research on transposable elements, no large-scale structural analyses of the TE proteome have been performed so far. We predicted the structures of hundreds of proteins from a representative set of DNA and LINE transposable elements and used the obtained structural data to provide the first general structural characterization of TE proteins and to estimate the...
متن کاملTransposons and their application in plant pathology
Prokaryote, viruses, and eukaryotes chromosomes contain fragments of DNA can move and migrate to other parts of the chromosome calling as Transposition and play an important role in new combinations of gene production. DNA fragments carrier the genes or transposons are the transposable elements that may called gene mutant also. Transposons can move to another position of the same chromosome or ...
متن کاملrahu is a mutant allele of Dnmt3c, encoding a DNA methyltransferase homolog required for meiosis and transposon repression in the mouse male germline
Transcriptional silencing by heritable cytosine-5 methylation is an ancient strategy to repress transposable elements. It was previously thought that mammals possess four DNA methyltransferase paralogs-Dnmt1, Dnmt3a, Dnmt3b and Dnmt3l-that establish and maintain cytosine-5 methylation. Here we identify a fifth paralog, Dnmt3c, that is essential for retrotransposon methylation and repression in ...
متن کاملH-NS mediates the dissociation of a refractory protein–DNA complex during Tn10/IS10 transposition
Tn10/IS10 transposition takes place in the context of a protein-DNA complex called a transpososome. During the reaction, the transpososome undergoes several conformational changes. The host proteins IHF and H-NS, which also are global regulators of gene expression, play important roles in directing these architectural changes. IHF binds tightly to only one of two transposon ends within the tran...
متن کاملAnnotation and sequence diversity of transposable elements in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)
Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) is an important legume crop grown and consumed worldwide. With the availability of the common bean genome sequence, the next challenge is to annotate the genome and characterize functional DNA elements. Transposable elements (TEs) are the most abundant component of plant genomes and can dramatically affect genome evolution and genetic variation. Thus, it is pivo...
